Principal Biographical Sketches
Calder P. Sinclair
Calder P. Sinclair is founder and president of the Atlanta-based fund raising consulting firm Sinclair, Townes & Company. With more than thirty years of fund raising experience, he has consulted with non-profit institutions and organizations throughout the country on capital campaigns, planned giving, annual giving, and comprehensive development counseling.
As both an attorney and as the former Director of Estate Planning for Emory University, Calder has extensive "hands-on" experience in major gifts and planned giving. He was directly involved in The Campaign for Emory which raised more than $220 million for the university in the early 1980's. Calder's background also includes serving as a Trust Officer for The First National Bank of Atlanta (now Wachovia).
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Emory University, Calder received his J.D. from the Emory Law School. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and The Florida Bar.
An Atlanta resident since 1968, Calder most recently served as national president for the Omicron Delta Kappa Foundation, the college and university leadership honorary. He also serves on the Board of Councilors for The Carter Center and the Board of Directors for the Cobb Community Foundation.
Robert B. Townes IV
Robert B. Townes IV, Executive Vice President, has more than twenty-five years of experience in development and public relations, providing general, annual, and campaign counsel for numerous philanthropic organizations.
Previously, Rob served on staff as the director of fund raising in Atlanta for the American Heart Association and The Episcopal Radio-TV Foundation. He previously provided fund raising counsel both as an independent consultant and with two other consulting firms.
Active in church and civic affairs, Rob has served on Emory University's Alumni Board of Governors, as a board member for the Atlanta Chapter of the United Nations Association, and as an advisory board member for UNA's national office. Rob served on the national board of the United Nations Association and was President of the Atlanta Chapter.
Rob also served as the Chair of (Emory University's) Candler School of Theology's Alumni/ae Executive Committee and as the Co-chair for the Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta's Commission on Racism. He was also one of approximately fifty stewardship consultants for the national Episcopal Church. Additionally, he served on the governing chapter of the Cathedral of St. Philip and the Advisory Board for St. Luke's Community Kitchen in Atlanta.
Rob holds a Master of Divinity degree from Emory University's Candler School of Theology and a B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi.
Mark R. Wilkison
Mark R. Wilkison is Senior Vice President at Sinclair, Townes & Company, with expertise in major gift, planned gift, capital campaigns and strategic visioning for organizations.
He has more than twenty-five years of consulting and fund raising experience previously serving as Vice President, Development for Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (the former Scottish Rite and Egleston Healthcare systems). As such, his responsibilities included planned giving, major gifts and strategic leadership for marketing philanthropy to various community constituencies.
Mark's experience also includes serving as the Chief Development Officer at Piedmont Hospital in Atlanta. He has also served as Chief Development Officer for the International Life Sciences Institute and as Executive Vice President of Phi Gamma Delta Educational Foundation. Mark received his B.S. from the University of Vermont.
He has served as President of the Atlanta Peachtree Rotary Club. He is a member of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), and other memberships and volunteer experiences have included: the National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG), the Georgia Association for Development Professionals (GADP), the Georgia Healthcare Association (GHA), and the Atlanta-area University of Vermont Alumni Association. Additionally, Mark serves on the Advancement Council for Mount Pisgah Christian School.
